The Water Wisteria, or Hydrophilia difformis, is a beautiful plant that requires little care but makes a big impact in larger aquariums. It is possible to propagate this plant from a single leaf cutting. This plant's dense foliage is perfect for aquarium backgrounds once it reaches maturity. Its roots will spread out from the aquarium's foreground if you lay it on its side and give it some weight.
Among aquarium maintenance duties, Water Wisteria care is among the easiest. It can grow up to 20 inches tall when planted in its native habitat, making it a great choice for the background of an aquarium. Since it can grow both vertically and horizontally, it is best suited for large aquariums where it can be trimmed regularly. Sometimes a single bunch can spread to a full 10 inches across in a short amount of time.
The "forked" appearance of Water Wisteria leaves can be achieved without additional CO2 or bright light. Water wisteria is not recommended for aquariums with abrasive inhabitants such as
crayfish, large cichlids, or even goldfish due to its narrow leaf margins.
Water Wisteria may do better with the addition of fertilizers like Seachem Flourish or Flourish Excel, as well as nitrogen and other plant nutrients.
