Banjo Catfish (Bunocephalus coracoideus) this catfish is popular because of its strange appearance

Banjo Catfish
Don't want to spend a lot of money on an exotic aquarium addition, but still want something special? The Banjo Catfish is the best place to start! These fish, with their horn-like projections and banjo-like shape and coloration, are some of the most unusual-looking creatures we have to offer. Bicolor Banjo Catfish, Guitarrita (meaning "little guitar"), and Two Colored Banjo Catfish are some of the more common names for this strange-looking catfish. Because of its wide, flat top and long, slender body, it has a banjo guitar-like appearance. Mostly tan, with dark brown (almost black) splotches along the tail and lighter-colored dots all over the body, this fish is a beauty. This fish also has spines or horns protruding from its body in various locations.

Because they are bottom-dwelling nocturnal catfish, you will see them only on rare occasions during the day. You can keep it in any size tank because it is a very sedentary fish that doesn't require a lot of space for movement. Community tanks can benefit from its ability to coexist peacefully with any and all other fish species. As a bottom-dwelling species, these catfish are ideal for consuming food scraps and helping to keep your aquarium's bottom tidy.
