Maintenance
Clean at least 2-3 times a month.
Gently rinse the sponge with stream of lukewarm water (best if you can use the current tank water to preserve beneficial bacteria) when dirty/clogged.
Do NOT use scalding (hot) or cold water as this will destroy the bacteria which colonize the sponge.
Do not use soap, detergent, cleaning solutions, bleach, etc. when rinsing the sponge.
You may need to replace sponge after it loses it efficiency.
