Snails of this type may contribute to your aquarium in more ways than one. You can use them to keep the substrate in your aquarium clean and the right color, as well as to remove algae from the glass, plants, and decorations in your aquarium. They have zero fear of aquatic life or vegetation. They can reach a width of three inches when fully grown!

The shells of Purple Mystery Snails range from a very pale violet to a deep indigo. The iridescent patterns on their dark, almost black bodies make these creatures look like black opals.

When compared to other freshwater snails, Mysterious Snails appear to be more gregarious and active. They extend their antennae and climb the tank walls in search of food. Make sure the water level in the aquarium isn't too high so the fish can get some air. When the Mystery Snail drops from a height, onlookers often let out a collective "Weee!" as it hits the ground or some nearby vegetation.

For this reason, we've decided to sell most of our Mystery Snails at a smaller size (between half an inch and one and a half inches in diameter) so that they can be kept for longer and enjoyed by more people. If given the proper nutrition, a young Mystery Snail can double or triple in size in just a few weeks or months. All freshwater snails are vulnerable to copper poisoning, so it is important to test the copper levels of tap water before adding it to the snail tank.
